  6. The official release date is August 19 supposedly....

  7. ^No way.. unless he's planning on doing some Beyonce/Jay-Z/Kanye West (and now Michael Cera.. haha) kind of strategy with little to no promotion or formal announcement.

    1. What's the point of being so secretive about to release date if that was the case what's the downside of actually telling us the release date

    2. where did ya get august 19 from? :o

  9. I kinda don't actually care anymore you know....? I still respect Lu and stuff, but I just can't afford to be as invested as I used to be. I'll look out for Testuo Youth, but I don't expect anything groundbreaking... Skulls however? We'll talk then.

    ReplyDelete
  10. ^^It's not whiny.. this dude literally comes up with an idea, talks it up on twitter or in interviews or guest appearances.. gets bored with it and changes his mind.. delays album/concept releases by doing so.. lashes at fans and blocks them on twitter for just saying 'come on, what's the delay about, drop this/that'..

I'm a huge Lupe fan, I still consider him my favorite music artist, but you're blind and in denial if you can't admit this above. Other hip-hop artists are excited to get their new material out and begin working on the next project... Lupe though? He literally goes on chill mode at times and says 'they can wait... it's cool.' Atlantic already approved T&S months ago and he claims they provided an approved album release date, yet he gives no indication of WHEN. You don't know it's dropping in September.. you just hope it does.. gtfo.

    1. Exactly. Lu will always be my favorite as well, but I won't deny he's spotty sometimes when it comes to being focused. Considering the situation he's in, I kinda don't blame him. But at the same time, who's to say he will have more of a schedule for a vision when he's out of contract? I mean for all we know, when he's out of contract and on his own, he might randomly just say fuck it and stop out of nowhere. Who knows. It's hard to tell sometimes, which probably isn't the best thing.

    2. He literally said it might get pushed back so he can maneuver more features under his 11-12 song cap. he literally said that. y'all dunno shit about the business but try to act like he got 100% control. he's not indie yet homeboy

      Delete
    3. ..yeah, he said ONE person he'd TRY to get a feature on the album with.. doesn't mean it's a for sure thing.. especially when people were throwing out names like Nas and Kendrick.. as if those guys aren't busy enough, they come with a hefty price I'm sure. That was back in early July anyway, and he said they have one week to make it happen, so if it did happen.. you'd think that would have been all finalized by mid-July. People are fine with being patient for an album.. but just supply a date and stick with it finally. It isn't a matter of Atlantic being Atlantic again at this point.

    4. Yeah, we surely don't know anything about the business. All we do all day is worry about shoving pencils up our bum.

Look, obviously he's not indie. What I'm wondering is how we will proceed after he gets out from being treated as a C list artist from a record company who tends to screw a lot of their artists over. He might not want to do it anymore, aside from stuff he has already or in progress of finishing. I wonder what he's doing about this release date, but in sure it will happen soon enough. At this point, Atlantic is just waiting for him. Or, we are if they already know when it is.

Either, it's always good to keep in communication with the fans and consumers about when to expect it at least. Or at least give an indicitation of it coming out soon. I don't blame him for the last few weeks, as he is Muslim and appreciating his culture. I just figured after all that, it would be a good idea to get the ball rolling.

And, ass, I'm just talking about the areas he can control. Oh like the release date, since it's already been approved by his record company.

Aside from all that, what I really am curious about is Crack. Goddamn that would be a logical single. Keyword, logical. Cause we can all tell what his direction is with the sly satire and really just honest commentary on society like he's always done. Next to it video is a perfect example.

Anyway, blah blah blah, wasted words, internet rant, time wasted reading this, brb leaving webpage.

Good talk though. Mixed signals for the win. Ha.

    1. This is my mood as well these days.... :|

Its just that, goddamn.... I used to get SO hype for his stuff in high school and after graduation... But these days its exhausting to get hyped, and then get let down.

He blew me away with Japanese Cartoon though. I was like, WOW! :O And thats just typical of Lupe post "The Cool". I feel that the stuff he suddenly drops randomly is AMAZING D: But when he hypes stuff I've been let down of late.

So let Tetsuo drop when it drop... Makes no difference to me, I won't get anxious. But Skulls...? Oh yeah, I hope Lu makes me feel like I'm in high school again XD

  15. i'm the biggest Lupe fan in the world but where's the strategy of keeping the release date a secret at first I was going to buy three copies when he announced the new title but now I think I'll just bootleg it just because

    ReplyDelete
  16. ^Dumb logic. Statements and actions like that is what hurts artists. Lupe isn't that big so album sales matters to him. He has said so himself. He has a family to feed.

Secondly he also announced on twitter it's Atlantic (once again) that messed up his release date. I believe that's why he kept it secret in the first place. He knew this would happen. Still fucking with the man smh.

    2. With that being said, I apologize for my words. Of course, no one can tell which they are, but nonetheless I apologize. I will learn to have more faith in the artist. Well to be honest, I really thought Lu was alright this time. Like they had gotten on the same page and everything, but once again, Atlantic has done it again. You know, when an artist like Lu thinks about retirement every time around when an album is coming out, that's a pretty shitty way for a record label to treat any artist. As sad as I am to say it, I wouldn't blame him if he stopped after the 6th. I mean I hope it doesn't happen cause Lu will not only control his own way, but also be successful for it. I guess we will see.

Even if Skulls is the next one, I still see Lu being treated like shit about it. I mean hell, they probably didn't even want to release it as a 5th one. Who knows but I wouldn't doubt it.
