Video: Lupe Fiasco interview with Rikki Martinez at Power 106! [UPDATED]

Lupe sat down with Rikki Martinez from Power 106 in LA and had a really dope interview. They talked about working on Kanye's "Black Skinhead", CRACK, the concept behind #1234 and wearing a KKK outfit, SLR 2 and the wave caused by the "Control" verse, the "falling off" line on POP/COJ and what his version of ratchet is.

He also revealed that those studio sessions with Ty Dolla $ign were indeed for Tetsuo & Youth. Rikki really knows her stuff so you'll definitely want to check it out above!

UPDATE: Power 106 just uploaded the full interview with about 10 more minutes of footage. Watch above as Lupe talks about crowd reactions on tour, choosing singles, Drizzys Law, locking his Twitter account, Philosophy Sundays and more!

    1. I'm sure you have watched as many Lupe interviews as I have & will know that when a female interview asks the "funky sexy shit"!Lupe gets guarded for the rest of the interview and doesn't talk as much as he did with this interview.
I actually think this was as "funkiest sexiest " interview I have ever watched actually.
      Well done Rikki!!!

  5. Some artist specifically say no personal relationship questions as a condition for the interview and Lu's private anyway

  6. Best interview so far. She set it up so perfectly, did great research, for him to elaborate more than he usually does. Well done.

    1. Have you heard "gotta eat" and how the whole song is a double entendre between fast food and drug dealing? Think of this as the "ratchet" version as he put it, between crack and sex

    2. Right, but that's storytelling. Which is why Gotta Eat is actually one of my favorite songs. CRACK doesnt seem to be storytelling in any fashion

  13. at 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 apostle paul said.....he became ALL things to ALL people so that he may gain the most people....I don understand his logic for crack but I think its his way of reaching the "ratchet rappers fan base" lil wayne ect......classic bait then switch.

  16. TimesNuRoman needs to do a lyric breakdown of "SLR 2" for the impersonations and Poor Decisions for the card metaphor
