  1. There was no major promotion like with Lasers, Lasers made some fans skeptical so they aren't supporting him, and his political views and remarks may have turned ppl away. That's what I feel the problems were. This album was worth the buy but with those 3 factors it gets no recognition

  2. Radio play for singles is soo important to how a album fares. Battle Scars was that single to push up the sales but Atlantic weren't keen to push it, hence very little radio play.

I remember the Cool. Reached top 10 in the UK charts simply because of the hype around Superstar. Lasers was helped by Show Goes On. Nothing for F&L2

  4. This album was great.. But not Lupe great. I bought the album first week.. And I like it.. But Lupe just doesn't sound hungry like he used to. Yeah, he was saying all the right stuff and the lyrics were there... But the lyrics was there on his first two albums and it had rhythm to go with that as well. FYI I'm not making a knock at bitch bad.. I like that song.. Just lupe's delivery in general is very medicore to what it used to be. He used to have a certain swag when he raps.. Like a "yo this is easy for me, watch me do my thing" kind of swag. lol. AND IT STILL IS.. I'm not saying he got worse.. Content aside, he just sounds bored vocally in his music these days.. and alot of his 1st person/3rd person poetic-like storytelling is gone.. it like instead of being creative and making a story to make you think or subliminally putting america's faults into his music, he just flat out states it now. You guys can hate me all you want for saying this, but it's true. Lupe is too good and creative to be making albums like F&LII.. Once again, great album. But not Lupe great, and now it's reflecting in the sales. Best example of a creative Lupe album is The Cool. He experimented a lot on that as he usually does but there was rhythm.. What he used worked with his rap style and he still had impeccable lyrics to go with great concepts while bring light to very important social issues. He's the GOAT, but I'm just meh on F&LII.. Great album still, just not the best lupe can do..

  5. It could have the lowest sales of all his albums, because unlike Lasers does not have a push on the radio and it is quality wise not on same level as F&L and The Cool. Still a great album, ordered 2 copies. I'd rate it 8.5 - 9.0 / 10

  8. Lets not forget, this is just part 1...Also this isnt necessarily Atlantic's fault, LUPE HAS DOPE MUSIC but the message he puts in his music is very against the grain and anti-cultural which is why the government and radio heads WILL NOT play his music...Unless its an Out of My Head or Show Goes on...F&L2 is strictly a message-type album. It wasnt meant to have huge success.

  9. No, we the fans have NOT failed. We bought the album, some bought multiple copies.

Comparing the sales of F&L2 to Lasers is of course going to be lopsided. Lasers had a huge push with two singles that got lots of radio play. I have heard Battle Scars a few times locally.

I know of several people that have the mentality of, if it's played on radio, and played on the radio non-stop, it must be good so I'll go and buy it. Hence, The Show Goes On and Out Of My Head got the attention of thousands of people who may have never heard of Lupe, and so they go out and buy the album. Those same people will probably look at him as a one hit wonder, all because of no large commercial push outside of Lasers.

So, a lot of the sales from Lasers were not from Lupe fans, but rather from people who buy whatever they hear on the radio.

To me, this album is on par with F&L1 and The Cool. I'll have to let it set in a few more months to say whether or not I can play it with pure enjoyment years down the road like I do the first two albums. But, so far so good.

  10. No way F&LII is on par with The Cool and F&LI... it's an okay album.
