Lupe Fiasco reveals that Artwork for FL2 exists & He's saving Soundtrakk beats for "Skulls"

Lupe just took to Twitter and replied to some fan tweets. He revealed that there is actual artwork for FL2: TGARA part 1, it just isn't in the album and there's only one copy of it. He also hinted at possibly revealing it after the album drops.

Furthermore, when asked why there's only 1 Soundtrakk production on the album, he said that he saved all the records for his final album with Atlantic, "Skulls."

  2. What happened to The Cooler(or the Coolest)?

I really hope the album is called "Lupe Fiasco's The Cooler: Skulls."

The Cool is Lupe's best album and for him to have a spiritual successor to it would be amazing.

  3. I have to say this....I am a diehard Lupe fan. IMO, he's top 5 greatest of all time. With that said...Lupe, dude you are really disappointing more and more. You've transformed. You were once an underground intellect making statements through your subliminal creativity and storytelling ability. Now your like some extremist spitting propaganda over weeeeak ass tracks. Commercial tracks. It sucks man. This album cover...WTF. I'm sure there's a message but dude, come onnnn. There was a message behind F&L and the Cool, way before you started acting like some new age Malcom X. Please come back to the good old days because the music you're making nowadays truly is not what I and many of your fans want to hear. I'm sorry. This is just dumb. What are you trying to do? I know many people on here won't agree with me and say I'm ignorant. Fine. But, I am a fan of yours. And, if I can see the drastic change in your music I'm sure countless others can see it too....I was hoping F&L2 would be "Great" but I just don't see it. And, that really sucks for me man. : (

    1. It makes sense tho food and liquor is a naive boy discovering the truths of the world and F&L 2 shows the boys grown up and has become angry with the world. Seeking change to the injustice it's lupes best metaphors if u ask me it's a part 2 because the boy re visits the place he grew up in and witnesses the vices with a mans mind

    2. Oh so I'm assuming this is the long ass cmt Lu was referring to in his recent tweet.lol oh ok.

    3. "Some new age Malcolm X".... Is that meant to be an insult? Lol how I was raised that wouldn't be a bad thing. *raises fist* lol no but seriously your opinion is yours so hey if he loses a fan than ok. Why stay if you're not happy? Happy trails sweetie *salutes* .... Btw I haven't heard the album. I did the legal thing and pre ordered I'm waiting and getting my money's worth! Lol

    4. Lol I'm pretty sure that's who Lu, was talking about... Lupe has evolved and will keep evolving in his music. Why would you want him not to grow. And for anyone to say that F&L2 is garbage, then that person is not a true lupe fan. I think this is one of his best.

      Delete
    5. I have to completely agree with this guy. Lupe changed, and not in the progressive way. F&L2 has some good moments but the cool and F&L never had a weak moment. The album doesn't touch his first two. I dunno what happened. Maybe my expectations are too high. My favourite rapper and artist, I'll always listen, but for now I'm dissapointed.

    6. Uhm high definition was terrible on the cool and so was a couple other songs. F&L had a one song as well don't be troll buddy

  6. To the second replying anon: i feel the exact same way. I'm only lookin' forward to the next "The Cool" and as far as what I've heard on FL2, I ain't diggin' it.

  7. Please don't speak for the majority. And why does everybody want sequels all the time. You'll be the same people complaining about a lack of creativity in hip hop.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Can you guys please and seriously listen to the album more than once? I've can't stress that enough. I too, was like this is no different than lasers expect that instead of commercial pop beats we have commercial hip-hop beats. I wasn't impressed with the album at first, but after like the 4th or 5th listen, it sunk in.

I kind of agree with the notion that Lu is tyrna act like he malcom x a bit, BUT the old Lu is still there. Tracks like Strange Fruition reminds me of orginal Food and Liquor Lupe. Songs like Put Em Up reminds me EOTS Lupe. Tracks like Hood Now reminds me of The Cool Lupe. In fact Hood Now "conceptually" is reminiscent of Could have been:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XIuitrUYPo

Lupe still got it. Can't wait for part 2...

    ReplyDelete
  9. As much as I agree with comment #3, you have to realize Lu isn't the same person he was in 2007, 08, 09. The music industry and the media have been taking a toll on him for several years. On top of that, he (just like any of us) has had his share of personal tragedy, suffering, and loss. His new sound is a reflection of who he is and what he's going through at the moment.

However, I do believe Lupe's musical talent is often overshadowed by his political views, Twitter beefs, and other nonsense. If I were his manager or a member of his crew I would pull him off to the side and let him know he's doing too much. Just focus on the music, ignore the bullshit & stop responding to people who aren't worth his time.

As far as the music goes, its kinda unfair to expect Lu to rap like he did when he was 25 when dude is going on 31. That's just not him anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  10. ^^^ Well said. I haven't agreed 100% with a comment on here for a loooog time.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ^ that. I don't know why fans can't see this man's progression. He described his world 2 albums in a row. People still didn't listen to what he was trying to help solve so he made some commercial shit to try and get it across. Now he's just pissed cuz people listened and still didn't get it so he is back where he started but way more aggressively. The comment above me is SO GOOD.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Every artist goes through growth periods. But isn't musicsuppose to be about life? Lupes an activist so topics like strange fruition and around my way, even unforgivable youth that is his life at this time. These are the subjects that draw his attention. He said it himself its not an egotistical title it's about rap and America. You were all prewarned. I agree with the anon above about the f&l 1&2 comparison. Though Lupe says it's not really a sequel as far as context I can see how it's a transition from the young lupe to the older lupe. I personally liked it. Some of the beats were very cliche but lyrical context, word play, delivery were all on point IMO. I'm curious to see what pt 2 will be like.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Lu will never win. If he raps about skating and go yard then fans will be like 'wtf? Lu is on the same shit he was on 6 years ago'. On the other hand by growing artistically fans complain about the 'new' Lupe.

It's 'fans' like you that are driving Lupe away from music and back to writing. Personally I want him to make music as an independent artist but whether he will or not, time will only tell.

ps. F&L2 is the best album I've heard in a while!

    ReplyDelete
  14. You guys need to seriously stop riding his dick. I'm sure 99% of his fans would be happy if he made another album like F&L1 and The Cool and not another like F&L2. He's my favorite rapper of all time but its pathetic how some of you will just agree and go along with whatever he does. In the end, he's selling a product to us and if we don't like that product as much as we used to, we have the right to say so.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ Anon

That may be true but there is no progression iin that. It's redundant. I'd rather him make the kind of music he's passionate about instead of selling me a product.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's not even about Lupe evolving, it's about the fans wanting what THEY WANT Lupe to make and that's the problem, one minute they get mad about people not even listening to Lupe at all, then when Lupe makes a song with a mainstream beat despite not talking about what 95% of the mainstream rappers talk about every song and then they have the nerve to call him a sell out, Lupe has always been the same lyrically, he hasn't loss his touch, F&L2 proves it, any "fan" that says that he sold out because of his beat selection DESPITE him spitting some knowledge about something in the world are just as bad as the typical Rap listener that listens to Rick Ross, Drake, Wayne, 2Chainz, Nikki etc.. just because their beats "go hard" and you were never Lupe fans to begin with, I don't care how long you've been listening to him, I'm not riding his nuts or anything but it's the truth, Lupe has the worst fans ever tbh, Nas didn't even get this much hate....

    ReplyDelete
  17. thats the thing though man, i love the product, its definitely not Food an liquor 1.. but hey, if i wanted food and liquor 1 id go listen to food and liquor 1... and right now im loving food and liquor 2 ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I thought music was about evolving and showing different aspects of the artist throughout their career, not staying trapped in one sound... i like Lupe's new album.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Im so sick of so called "fans" bitching and complaining everytime lupe drops something and its not EXACTLY what they wanted. I think i speak for all TRUE FANS when i say STFU! F&l2 is a great album. Dope rhymes, instrumentals, and concepts. Who the fuck wants an artist that makes the same shyt over and over!?

  22. I find it highly ironic how the fanbase of an artist that promotes individuality and self-expression in a world of oppression continually ostracizes anyone who doesn't like his work. As fans and even more so as humans we are all entitled to give our thoughts on something we feel strongly for. Be it positive or negative criticism, it all needs to be heard. I hope you read this Lu.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @wisdom that was the realest comment I ever read on here. You better watch out though because the "real fans" are going to come after you. So prepare for people calling you "hater".

    1. Thanks anon. I'm ready for them lol.

  24. I don't believe those people are being ostracized, more like not understood. Most of the complaints are how he has changed as an artist. After 6+ years would you expect him to sound the same. At the end of the day you are right wisdom we are all entitled to our opinion. And my opinion is Lupe still continues to put out exceptionally great music and I will continue to support one of the greatest artist of this generation.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mr.Anderson I beg to differ. Isn't attempting to devalue someone's opinion and then claim that "true fans" must agree with an artist's work a little more than just a case of misunderstanding one another. One group is trying to root out all voices that differ from the accepted norm and only allow a single-minded narrow view on the subject being critiqued. Ever read The Wave?

    ReplyDelete
  26. At first I didn't really feel the album, gave it about a 7/10 until a few repeats and it sunk in. Lupe even said it's an album that has to sink in

    ReplyDelete
  27. @wisdom

Quoting a book does not automatically give you credibility. While it seems that you have a point in how there is a hypocrisy in Lupe fans shutting down the opinions of others when we supposedly support self-expression, you can never get your point across in life or the change you may seek if you approach conflicts froma theoretical or passive angle.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hate how much these "true fans" dick ride Lupe and wont take the cock out and realize something.

JUST because you've grown as a person an tryna kick knowledge or do what ever it is that you're tryna do doesn't mean its good at all an why bash people and their opinions like the shit isn't that serious at all.

As a FAN I can respect his movement and the things he doing (or trying to do) but that doesn't mean its good or I like it cuz let's be honest here for two seconds, just two an thats all im asking for; Lupe Fiasco has digressed an been seemingly off on a tangent for awhile now but no one says anything because its a sin to speak ill of the almighty Lord Lu. But no one is saying its wrong for him to flex his creativity or to try new shit. Its just some of the shit he doing is just not on point at all.

Anyways, I don't mind some of the stuff because its not bad and altho the old Lu did so much for me I do yearn for that and miss it alot sometimes but I know thats inevitable and I accept that.

One thing I can't accept is the approach. The reaction. And The excuses. Its not fly and its kind of like he expect us to just be ok with everything he do because of the pedestal WE put him on.

Old Lu wasn't like this because he wasnt as well received an respected as much musically! Yes he gets a lot of hay now but thats only because his fan base has blown up, so of course that only creates more criticism plus a lil added arrogance on his end but that shit aint the business.

I'm not asking him to change tho cuz he wont an its nothing personal just my opinion.

He's an artist, and he can do as he pleases but it seems like sometimes he dont GAF! Even about his fans and I remember one time he said he dont really GAF about his american fans anyways its all about Austrailia (yaaay go Aussies) so i was taken back by and hey thats how he feels but to a certain extent you have to appease your fanbase with something tho right?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Y'all "real" fans are just supporters and dick riders for whatever he does an prolly cried when he announced the weak ass retirement that I've been waiting over 4 yrs for an knew it wasnt gonna happen because he never stick to his word. Y'all don't question him or nothing so y'all as much as puppets as the people he speaks off when he preaches against the govt an America an so on and so forth. Y'all dont agrue with him or demand shit from him so on a smaller scale he like America the muthafuckin garbage man wit dreds an we da fat dumb american ppl marchin to his hymns an whims. Always offering him lifelines and excuses an shit

And when I say I cant wait its Not because I dont like his music but im fed up with the whole Fiasco situation and how he treats his fans like "yeah ima be a shitty artist but they'll accept whatever I say cuz I'm Lupe an I'm some new mohammad of hip hop" or some dumb shit like that but he isnt so he shouldnt even take that burden!

Niggas in the hood aint gonna get convinced when one nigga tryna make a difference! DMLKJ had to die before more ppl finally decided like oh maybe he is right! so if you think Lupe in one career gonna do better than what many others are trying to do and failing at are REAL fools!

It takes failure to succeed so yes it'll help but cmon dawg! He wanna bitch about fans gettin leaked music but you barely release consistently.. He wanna tell us an promise us shit an turn into an indian giver an renege or make excuses. I be like Forreal my nigga? Im strait!!

He went from postal loco super anti anarchist an jumpin super political like anyone GAF! Like I respect his stance but everyone aint gonna like or even get into that so why put it all out there like that? I dont want to insult him and he mad intelligent but idk why ppl take him seriously serious when he say off the wall shit.

He's always been saying off the wall shit for years an I've rocked wit it but the envelope is gettin pushed way too far into one direction.

I refuse to speak on his new album until I hear both parts so on my bday when it releases I wont even take a listen until I have it the way he wanted it to be heard. As being a double disc effort but I heard part one so far is meh and Sub LUPar (see what I did there?) And its like wtf? Word

I'm not really gonna bag on what he want to expirement on but after lasers it kinda felt like he owed us one and thats real shit! Lasers ain't bad and i rock wit it in another light but cmon son. GTFO WIDAT BULLSHIT!

This is longer than I intended and I said my piece I just can't wait until the death of lu (skulls.. how creative) comes so i can properly close this chapter in my life an get into other shit that he does or just in general.

Hey REAL fans its my opinion an I'm not asking him to change or that I hate his face or anything or that i hate his music and he should do this or whatever else yall thinkin while you read an hate me for saying this. I'm just givin how I feel an putting it out there cuz I know I'm not alone so yeah. Peace n much love to ya brothas n sistas, salam!

F*** what you talking about look at this protest!

Now people look at things this way. This is a Lupe blog.... You have to know you will get flak from trying to bash the man that the blog is made to follow. But there are some issues. People will follow Lupe because they agree with his words, ways, etc.. No one wants to think something ill of a person they think highly of. I rock Lupe because I feel his is one of the greatest MC's at this moment. What is on the radio is straight garbage. Another thing is you can't get mad at the man for doing his damn music the way he wants to. TGARA is great, the messages are strong. Strange fruitation is great soundtrakk is a beast. The rest is kind of something from the regular rap beat factory. But his still goes in... He owes us nothing so be happy he is still in the game with two more CDs to go. Don't come on here for the sake of starting beef with Lupe fans. We don't really care for your opinion of how he sucks. What he said on "Swang on em" tell it all perfectly. "How Come He Do What He Wanna Neva Do What We Want" < that sounds like a buncha of people who cry on this blog.

We like Lupe. We agree with whatever he puts out because we like the honor of hearing someone we think is one of the best in hip-hop. If you don't like it 2 Chainz is always looking for a new fan base.

  33. @wisdom

Go fight your battle of hypocrisy and narrow-mindedness somewhere else. Do you understand what fan/supporters are? You can't say things like "blinded loyalty" and "fan blog" in the same sentence and expect to be taken seriously.

I haven't heard the album yet cuz it isnt out but so far I've felt that every track Ive heard is amazing. Not because Lupe can do no wrong but because the right he does is so overwhelming in comparison that pointing out "flaws" is just being a baby.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's funny how the people that are crying foul about not being able to voice their opinion didn't even listen to the album. They are complaining about Lupe being too political.

Check this: Almost all the "heavy political" subject matter on the on the album are singles that are ALREADY out.

    Yeah, funny I know.

The rest of the songs are pretty much Lu kicking knowledge like he always does lol. The only thing I think people hate/will hate once they actually listen to the album are the "commercial" hip-hop beats.

But like stressed, give the album several listens before dismissing it. Seeing as you guys are closed minded, blinded hater, unable to let other that have positive opinion have a positive one without being called dickriders, I doubt you'll be able to do it.

I hope you saw what I did there "wisdom." I find it extremely hilarious how you are clamoring for people to allow others to have negative opinions without being attacked or called "haters", but when said person goes around calling those with positive opinions dickriders you have nothing but praise for him interesting...

wisdom, mind telling me how one can expressed their positive feedback on Lu and defend their opinion without being considered "narrow minded" or "blind" with loyalty? hmmm?

Nothing is more hilarious than a hypocrite trying to point out the hypocrisy of others...

    1. I didn't even say you can't express positive feedback on an album. All I'm trying to say is that both the positive and negative feedback have an equal right to be heard. One can express their positive feedback as well as defend themselves and not be close-minded as long as they respect the opinions of others. Quite simple isn't it? .

    ReplyDelete
  38. The problem isn't that we think that you negative people are haters and that we don't respect your opinion, the problem is when fan who criticizes Lupe for everything he does after Food And Liquor and The Cool and then they'll turn around and have that "Lupe sold out, Lupe doesn't sound like the old Lupe" mentality and then say that they've been listening to Lupe since his mix tape days and that they're real fans just because of it.

Did you people know that there were fans saying that Lupe sold out when he came out with Kick Push? You see what I'm talking about, it's these so called hardcore fans that wants Lupe to stay the same and doesn't want him to expand, they want every Lupe song to sound the same they practically want Lupe to do what J Cole does.

Another thing about him trying to be like Malcolm X, what the hell is wrong with that?, you people had no problem with Tupac trying to be a thugged out Martin Luther King Jr. But since it's Lupe, he doesn't get a pass because you people want him to keep making tracks like Mean And Vicious and Failure, since when is it wrong for him to try to care and rap about the problems of our communities and country and other political shit?

We respect your opinions, we're not knocking it but when you say things like things like "Lupe just lost a fan" because he's speaking his mind about America or having a positive song on women on somewhat and I mean SOMEWHAT commercial beats that actually fits him is just plain ignorant, Lu never sold out and he's been the same in terms of lyrical ability, he's just not the same person from 6 years ago and that's not a bad thing and you shouldn't see it as one, don't like Food and Liquor 2? Ok, don't buy it, miss his old shit? Buy Food and Liquor because more likely most of you didn't even buy it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  39. No artist can keep that same style and flow that they once had when they came out. However, comparing Lasers to F&L2, this is by far the best we have seen from Lupe. The style/flow, beats and lyricism definitely show how great of a rapper he still is. F&L2 is a breath of fresh air in this horrible world music. Keep up the good work Lupe

  40. LUPE HAS THE WORST FUCKING FANS....ONE HALF DICK RIDES EVERY MOVE HE MAKES, CLAMING THEY'RE INTELLECTUALS AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF HIS MESSAGES, EVEN THOUGH HIS MUSIC HAS TAKEN A TURN FOR THE WORST....AND THE OTHER HALF COMPLAIN TOO DAMN MUCH EVEN THOUGH THEY MAKE GOOD POINTS AND ONLY WANT THE OLD LU BACK BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT BROUGHT THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE....

I'M SORRY LU, BUT THIS ALBUM SUCKS BRUH, THERE'S LIKE 4 GOOD SONGS, BUT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE NAMED THIS F&L 2 BECAUSE IT LITERALLY DISRESPECTS THE MASTERPIECE THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL F&L.....I STILL LOVE YOU THOUGH LOL

    ReplyDelete
  41. First off the cool is not his best album it's the first one he sold out to make pop hits like superstar on. If you don't like his new stuff stop listening to him a lot more people do like his new stuff. You can't stay relevant doing the same thing over and over you'll bercome a boring dried up artist. He's moving forward. Move forward with him or move on to another artist.
