  1. Great interview. Lupe is such an inspiring person, and so down to earth and nice as well. And I found the interview rivitting for another reason. Listening to the snobs at triple j studiously avoiding any mention of Lupe's latest single, his most successful in Australia ever, having spent 5 weeks at number one and having reached almost triple platinum in less than six weeks of sale. That was a crack up. They must have almost had heart failure when he mentioned the name of the show he is performing on tonight, fearful that he might drop the name of the artist he is performing with, Guy Sebastian. So long treated like dirt and ignored by this arrogant up itself radio station. I wonder if Lupe realises that the only way these snobs would play the particular song he is performing would be if Guy's vocals were removed from it, and perhaps Matt Corby or Lisa Mitchell or Owl Eyes vocals were added to it. Their token Idol artists they actually play, and only because they were not signed to a record label after appearing on Idol but went down the "indie let's spend a few years doing it tough before releasing music" road. It must have shocked and annoyed this radio station when they heard Lupe was collaborating with Guy. Suck it up Triple J. It's done and dusted and ignoring it is not going to make it go away.

  3. Yes. It's all good. And this song is shooting goals without them. But I can't help but be annoyed at a radio station that was created and is funded by Australian tax payers to promote Australian music and yet not only refuses to play certain Australian artists, but actively canvasses against them. I hate that I contribute to that without having any say in it.

  4. umm, since when has lupe been ignored by triple j? he's been on there for interviews multiple times and he's "regularly" played - i've heard all black everything, kick push and the show goes on in the past couple of weeks.

  7. I love Lupe Fiasco’s music and I love listening to Lupe Fiasco talk - it does seem odd that Lupe didnt promote or mention his collaboration with Guy as he is so proud of Battle Scars going to #1 and staying there for 5 weeks and nearly triple platinum here in Australia. It is also Lupe's first #1 single on the US R&B/Hip-Hop Digital chart - something to be really proud of!

I am thinking that Triple J edited out any mention of Guy Sebastian as Triple J have said that listeners would never hear a Guy Sebastian song on their playlist because he came from a reality tv show and true to their word they have never played any of his music since he was launched on Australian Idol in 2003. I have no idea why they have singled out Guy Sebastian but they have.

Previously, I was a long time regular listener of Triple J but since they don’t play my favourite artist, I now listen to NOVA FM who have supported him from the beginning of his career.
