  8. Lu goes hard even on a lazy flow.
    Too nice.

  9. i don't recognize his flow. sounds like he is talking over the beat

  10. Flow could have been better but i'll take it over IDWCRN anyday, good job audibles

  11. this is like a sociology lesson BUT it bumps. if people aren't feeling this it's going over their head. it's simple complexity meeeeng. it's so dripping with tongue-in-cheek. he's dropping knowledge, while spitting, while storytelling. fucking amazing. and this is coming from someone that wasn't even feeling much of Lu's recent stuff. but these type of masterfully crafted songs are what made me a fan in the F&L days.

  12. I agree with the whole flow thing, it seems very fragmented and doesn't sound fluid at all. With that said, nice message and awesome beat. It will grow on me.

  13. peeps saying the song is bad or Lupe’s not flowing in this song doesn’t have an ear for flows. This is a lazy flow but it’s on point. Reminds me of Jay with that offkiltered but still on beat a bit delayed each time. Like Jay on Renegade. This is a laid back track and flow which is dope to me.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I get the concept but the flow is not on point. Lazy or not. If he was gonna use that type of beat he should of put more life into it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The beat BUMPS! Club BANGER for sure! All people care about is the beat and and the hook. BOTH are on point.

In my opinion though, had Lu gone with a fast rapid flow on the verses this song would be K_I_L_L_E_R! I still expect this song to reach the top 40 on the billboard hot 100 tho.

  18. Did Will Smith write this?

  19. I'll go ahead and hop on the "flow is not on point" bandwagon. I don't think it's bad I just expect a little more from an album track. If this track was on a mixtape I would have no issue with it. Other than that I think his message important so hopefully it will overshadow his lazy flow.

  20. Back in high school, Tamika was the sweetest, the bomb
Hot to death, though in tenth grade a teenage mom
Knocked up by some thug named Russ in the drug game
But had the cutest kid you ever seen
Then all the pressure from her mom
    She stepped to Russ
Told him it's either them drugs or us
    Either them thugs or us
The ultimatum, either continue bein a thug in the world
    Or start lovin your girl
And say God, bear me witness, no doubt, lovin ya dear
    But to go from $50 G's a week to $30 G's a year
    That ain't happenin
I guess he wasn't that strong
He came back the next week, and the whole family was gone
Yo they straight moved away, without as little as a word
Well, needless to say, Russ was a little perturbed
Then in a fury put the pressure on her girlfriend Shawn
And like a clumsy chef she spilled the beans on where they had gone

    Upstate Schenectady,
    Tamika answered the door
It was the last person she expected to be
    They just stared
He said you love me for me?
You can do without the cars, vacations, and jewelry?
    Down with me?
    Period.
    Through life's stress and strife
She said, Yeah, He said in that case
Would you please be my wife?
Then like a sign from the sky, the baby cried
    Like an angel sings
I love y'all more than anything

  23. Just seems like Lu's tracks are just missing something nowadays. Maybe he's comfortable now, or he's not around the old crew, but somethings missing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why's everyone who posts on here gotta be a dude, bitch?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Why does it sound like he has a weird accent or somethin in this and skate on. his voice def sounds different.

  26. this song is too good, quit hatin. lupes doing good for all of his listeners.

  27. I wanna hear Lu kick something that'll make me give the Fahrenheit series, my old Lu mix playlists, F&L, The Cool, and EOTS a rest. I still ain't heard it. I'll give SLR props, but that's where it stops.

  29. Now imagine as a shorty, maybe 5 maybe 4
Riding round with his momma listening to the radio
    And a song comes on
And Im not far from being born
Doesn't know the difference between right and wrong
Now I ain't tryna make it too complex
But lets just say shorty has an undeveloped context
About the perception of women these days
His momma sings along and this is what she says
Niggas Im a bad bitch and Im bad bitch
Something else and far above average
And maybe other rhyming words like cabbage and savage and baby carriage
And other things that match it
Couple of things that happen here
First he relating the word bitch with his momma
    Comma
And because shes relating to herself
His most important source of help
    And mental health
He think she a bad bitch
He may skew respect for dishonor

    ReplyDelete
  30. Now imagine a group of little girls 9 -12
On the internet listening to songs about themselves
Doesn't really matter if they have parental clearance
They understand the internet better than their parents
Now being the internet the content's probably uncensored
There young so they're malleable and probably unmentored
A complicated combination maybe with no relevance
And to their intelligence meets their favorite singers preference
Bad bitches bad bitches bad bitches
That's all I want and all I like in life is
    Bad bitches bad bitches
Now lets say they're less concerned with him
And more with the video girl acquiescing to his whims
    Ah the plot thickens
High heels, long hair, fat booty, slim
    Reality check, I'm not trippin
They don't see a paid actress
Just what makes a bad bitch

    ReplyDelete
  31. Disclamer
    This ramer(rhymer)
Lupe's not using bitch as a lesson
    but as a psychological weapon
    To set in
Your mind and really mess with your conceptions
    Discretions
    Reflections
    It's clever misdirection
    Cause
While I was rapping, they was growing up
    Fast
No body stepped in to ever slow em up
    Gasp
    Sho'nuff in this little world
The little boy meets one of those little girls
And he thinks she a bad bitch
And she think she a bad bitch
    He thinks disrespectfully
    And she thinks sexually
    She got the wrong idea
    He don't wanna fuck her
He think she bad, at being a bitch like his mother
    Momma never dress like that
Come out the house, hot mess like that
    Ass, titties, breasts like that
All out to impress like that
    Just like that
You see the fruit of the confusion
    He caught in the reality
    She caught in an illusion
    Bad mean good to her,
    She really nice and smart
But bad mean bad to him
    Bitch to play a part
But bitch still bad to her if he say it the wrong way
But she think she a bitch, what a double entendre

  36. this and around my way both remind me of hurt me soul.... i'm not complaining.... but whereas lupe used to make arguments with metaphors within metaphors, now, he's just flat out saying.... nothin' wrong with that....

reminded me of "omittin' the work 'bitch' / cursin' i wouldn't say it / me and dog couldn't relate til a bitch i dated / forgive my favorite word for hers and hers alike / but i learnt it from a song i heard and sorta liked"

  38. Say what you want... I LOVE THIS!!!! The message is on POINT! For all those complaining about the beat, go make a better one yourself since you know so much about what a good beat sounds like. I believe many of us love Lupe for his lyrics, so why y'all are getting so caught up on the beat--- I have no idea.

  45. The flow is the best part of the song. You know you're on a higher level when you make a flow like that work and sound so smooth. And the lyrics are on point. Kind of reminds me of Pimp Hand (Make Sure) and that's that old school Lu

  47. Obviously Lupe has to spell shit out for people these days... His lazy type flow still has complex rhyme patterns. Dope song dope message. Don't hate participate.

    Btw IDWCRN

"I'm not a turtle, Imma turbo
Haters pray to god that I turn slow. Like I’m sipping on purple
But I ain’t on your globe. I’m in a whole ‘nother circle. Trying to keep it clean like church clothes. Said that respect was something had to work for. But that ain’t gonna work though. Get your respect, but lose all my worth, no. You can get that, get a hearse, go. Don’t leave 48 you’ll find a killer in the first floor. It was me boy, to commercials. Feeling out of place like PETA at a fur store. So I left with a couple dozen fur coats. Said I could never break away from your hold. Watch me, turn though. Said that I blew it like Turquoise. Just mad hear it all in your word choice. Know it hurts but. I really don’t care though. Let me rub it in, get it all up in that ho"

Why do people hate that song lyrics are on fucking point?

  48. Every little detail in this track is genius.

  49. Lupe needs to cut that hair, that's what he needs to do

    ReplyDelete
  50. The flow is an acquired taste, it's unreasonable to expect everyone to find it good.
That being said the message was certainly on point. The lyrics, the rhyme scheme, the vocabulary, and just the general connecting of the dots.

  55. Lupe has said himself not ever song has to be super lyrical. Some can be simple and straightforward. So if he does it consciously I have no problem with it. He can turn it off and on.

    ReplyDelete
  56. What I can always appreciate from Lupe is that from the beginning up to now he's always done what he wants. Tryna appease a "Lupe Fanbase" is like asking a child what kinda toy he wants. No market research music, just Lupe music. Hard ass track

    ReplyDelete
  57. Got this song explained over at Rap Genius for all those interested. Looking forward to the album :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. This will be one of those songs that after the album drops and you listen to it for a while because it's on the album, people that don't like it will come to like it. Tbh, I didn't like kick, push when it first dropped, now its a classic song, I didn't like sunshine, paris, toyko, hello goodbye or fighters when I first heard them, but after some time of sitting with the albums, I really love those songs now.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The only thing I don't understand about this song is the Background when Lupe says "I'm killing these Bitches!" What is that about? I'm sure Lupe has a reason for it

    ReplyDelete
  60. ^^ he's "killing" the rampant use of the word "bitch" in all its various (and nefarious) forms

    ReplyDelete
  61. Bitch Bad
    Woman Good
    Lady Better
    They Misunderstood.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Great song. Message is message. It's not like he's straight up sayin "NO ONE SHOULD EVER USE BITCH!!" So calm down, ladies. It's just the cultural effect. Ima still call a bitch a bitch.

    IM KILLIN THESE BITCHESSS

    ReplyDelete
  63. " fuck the haters who like this song "

This might be the greatest thing I've ever read on this blog...

    ReplyDelete
  64. This beat resembles something from a Lil wayne or Drake cd. The vocals also, Lu even sounds like em. I love the message but seriously lupe you can flow better than that and if anyone disagrees they need to wake up and just listen to the cool or f&l 2. I feel like lupe thinks his fan base is so strong he can just release anything he wants even if it came with a pile of shit which is kinda true. This is lasers material. Hopefully promo nd not on his album. Better yet he should put together a lasers 1.5 cd and include this garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ^^^GTFO, you're one of those people that probably bitched about how Lasers was a pop album and had no messages just because you didn't like the beats, this song might not be his greatest but it has a message that no one has really gotten into in Hiphop, you and these so called "real Lupe fans" just because you miss Lupe from the F&L days are getting ridiculous, all of these complaints are just telling me that you don't want Lupe to expand and change up when it's his career and life, eat a dick, you'll probably buy this album anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Sheesh if you love his old albums so much play those only and never listen to anything new again. That solves your (ridiculous) problem with his new music.

People always complaining. Stay complaining. I bet if he still sounded like the F&L days (when he was 24) you'll say that he never progressed as a rapper. He's 30 now. He's lived more, seen more and done more. Perhaps his experiences have influenced him to change his style a bit. All change and differences aren't bad. Maybe you're the bad one for not being open to change and different things.

    ReplyDelete
  67. @MalcolmGarveyHuey

I'm a OG lupe fan and this song is not garbage stop being stuck to one sound. The beat is dope.

    ReplyDelete
  68. what!! you mean people don't get the song? oh the horror!! the beat, the hook, the perfectly placed auto-tune the purposely tampered with flow all designed to mess with your brains direction... as the man himself points out are people really listening? damn coz niggers are missing out, this isn't a mixtape lu doesn't mess around folks he's really trying to put the food and shun the liquor but even his fan-base is lost by the looks of things.

    ReplyDelete
  69. love, Love, LOVE this song!! This song right here is why I love Lu. Thought-provoking shit. Lady is MUCH Better! It would be nice if this phrase becomes 'cool'...I see you Mr. "I am Cornel Westside"! Yeah boys and girls, we about to get another dish of that Food & Liquo! Super amped!

  70. *Liquor....I am so happy that I m typing too fast, smh. Let me sit down, lol

  71. I killin the bitchessss...long live the ladies

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm a Lupe fan and I'll support him, but this song belongs on a mixtape not an album. It's too close to commentary over a beat, doesn't sound musical.

    ReplyDelete
  73. The message is excellent and the beat not bad.

I do wish Lupe would put more effort into the flow like he use to. I know he can't please everybody but let's not forget the fans that were there first. His old mixtapes still outweigh his latest commerical releases so that's not growth to me. Lupe, if you must teach the children on the albums please drop us some soul for the true fans who already understand this life. Maybe on some new mixtapes (unofficial albums) if you must.

    ReplyDelete
  74. why do u want him to use metaphor when he is talking to teenagers let it be straight forward let them understand what they are doing to themselves and what the media is doing to them
    it's all misleading

THANK YOU LUPE FOR THIS SONG

    ReplyDelete
  75. Dope track. Love Sway singin at the end.

  76. Read the review by Marc hogan from SPIN.. Lupe is too deep for that dude..lol

    ReplyDelete
  77. about the spin article lol ya that was funny but i liked the fans comments
and also lupe tweeted sth about it on twtiter

    ReplyDelete
  78. Lupe addressing the younger generation in this track so he is aware that simple lyrics will get the point across to them. We as fans must understand how messages need to be sent out in order to have them heard. You think metaphor after metaphor will have these 13yr old bad bitches listening?? Lupe drops knowledge, Lupe is Hip-Hop.

    ReplyDelete
  79. So to anyone that think this song has a bad flow ( which it does ) and a bad beat. IT'S ALL ON PURPOSE PEOPLE. I'm pretty sure the beat was meant to sound like it was from a "Lil Wayne" Album.

    -By Henry Adaso

"He takes on a didactic tone, purposefully delivering his lines in a clumsy manner (aka "dumbing down") to stress the mediocrity of the songs he's parodying. And it's all set to a generic drum pattern. Haha."

    ReplyDelete
  80. Okay Lupe, I'm liking this one.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I feel his flow was not the focus. Not that the flow was off, just that he's more concerned with what he is saying that how he's saying it. & Why is everyone bitchin when in reality, we would listen to this all day versus anything on the radio right now? Would you take this or Chief Keith? Oh,...i thought so.

S/N: If you actually listen to the lyrics on the Lasers album, you will here his depression (and his skill despite popular belief) in his music. I fronted on it for 6 months. Heard it once and listened with a blind ear. ONLY UNTIL TODAY, did i give it a second run through and was able to hear all of the messages. If Lu's average fan critic of album is a 9-10, I (and some of "we") still give Lasers a 7-8 which is STILL very good.

    ReplyDelete
  82. He made it simple so all would get to message. Anyone who listen to this song will get it. evern if you 4 or 80 years olds. No tricks or methods. Just the message. One of the great hip hop songs ever because it the truth. Listen again and think about what he saying.
