  5. Poor Pete, he is really try to work this drama in order to get some attention. Its working for him though. Think about it.... Prior to Lupe's song dropping, no one cared and no one certainly would have been lining up to do interviews with Pete Rock, or even press releases.

I feel bad for the old guy. But hey, I heard the original T.R.O.Y being played on the radio today, which would have NEVER happened prior to all this drama. (unless it was throwback Thursday or something)
I guess you gotta get it how you can. Big Ups to Lupe for reviving Pete's career. -_-

  6. eh...don't really give a fuck. Its amazing how a few tweets started all this shit. damn. I'll probably play "soul survivor" and F&L2 on the same day , one after the other.

  7. I definitely feel Pete's frustrations, but he doesn't fully take the blame for what he did with his tweets. That was uncalled for, but Lupe's side still had faults as well.

I think the main problem with this issue, as well as many problems we have with today, is lack of communication with one another. Pete wanted to have a part in making the song, and if you think about it that song would surely be EPIC. I think what happened though was that Atlantic was involved with the process, but since Lupe didn't talk with him directly at first (this is just an assumption), Atlantic decided to cut the middle man and avoid having to pay Pete.

The lack of trust and honesty in this is so frustrating as a fan of these two, as well as hip hop. These two collaborating would be an amazing pair, and I would love to see it in the future. If they just brushed their egos off to start with, the great music fans yearn for would definitely come. I just want the drama to end.

  8. Agreed with that other anonymous person.

I loved F&L and The Cool, but TROY was undoubtedly a classic. You young'uns that don't know who Pete Rock is, do yourself a favor and actually LISTEN to TROY> tis dope!

  10. Now I wonder, would the song be any different had Pete Rock produced it?

I just found out "Around My Way" has the same producer as the one that did "Put You on Game".

Simonsayz produced "PYOG". He work with B-Side to make "AMW". http://www.thelupendblog.com/2012/05/b-side-around-my-way-producer-responds.html

  11. It would be nice if Lupe and Atlantic agree to involve Pete Rock on redoing the beat for the AMW music video at least. Maybe have a snippet of the original playing in the beginning and fading into the modern remake. It also wouldn't hurt to have Pete and possibly CL make a cameo appearance in the vid too to at least signify a coherent end to the drama.

  12. ^That would be corny. Pete should kick him a beat for the second disc and Lupe can use this incident for some inspiration on a track. Over and done.

  13. Well, he seemed sincere in the interview, however a "conditional yes" is a dumb excuse. He probably just said yes and didn't think about what he could have contributed or, more importantly, what he could have received if he would have worked with Atlantic on the song.

  14. This dude is sensitive as hell. He's been in the industry for how long now and he is still talkin about this bs? His skin should be alot tougher, he should know when to walk away and say OK THIS SHIT IS PETTY IM DONE. But no, we are still hearing about this crap. He has respect and has earned respect but damnit he needs to show some maturity and shut this shit up. But hey I guess the attn is nice so he can't stop just yet. Smh. Ridiculous for someone thats been I'm the game for 20+
