  2. shut up about sampling the beat, this song is on point. it's perfect and the lyrics are truthful. and remember, was the beat from daydreaming original? classic lupe! #LupeBack

  3. Let's not forget the official release date of 9/25/2012 for F&L II

  4. People need to shut the fuck about haters. Just because people don't like LASERS does not mean they are "haters."

Pete Rock and all the old school bullshit hip-hop fans need to shut the fuck up and stop crying a river.

  8. I've given it a few listens already. I love it, love the lyrics, love the beat. Speaking of beat. I don't understand why Pete Rock is so pissed. I mean, don't they have to get approval to use/sample the beat from the previous artist(s)? I would think he would've known about this and approved it already.

I was expecting a release date for Food & Liquor II to be sometime in Oct. given The Show Goes On and Lasers had a 5 month difference. Hell, I'm not complaining though, it'll be a nice 3-day-early-birthday present to myself.

  11. Great track, I haven't been this excited for an album since The Cool, but I've noticed that a lot of people that were bashing Lupe for Lasers and FOTP are all of a sudden back on his jock again, despite this track being epic, the subject matter of it was on Lasers, it just didn't have the so called "Hip-hop essence" type of beat on it that you people love so much, it just sucks how Lupe fans turn on him so easily just because of his beat selection.

  12. 1st verse

First off say peace to Pineridge, shame in all the damage that the white man wine did,
ghost dance penalty is 5 million beers a year & all that other crime did,
more pieces to the teachers of blind kids, to red bells & small cells keeping their mind big

To everythings’ hostile suicide bombers and prosperity gospels and “masegated?” models

With cocaine and blood pouring out their nostrils, they got to, just to stay awake on the catwalk of life where everybody watch you. Straight hair, high heels & a handbag.

Crucifixes racism & a land grab. Katrina, fema, trailers, human body sandbags. A peace sign & a pants sag, a money toss causing nine stipper mad dash.

A friend request following a hashtag, now everybody want it like the last laugh

A Michael Jackson jacket or a daft mask, purple Jordans on a mixed girl in your math class. Staplers when the bath had Bagdad, but corporate jets really had to have that gas ban. War & they hope they all fall for the rat-a-tat, cause that’s just more dinosaur for the Cadillac

    2nd verse

(And we) Marvel at the state of all the man, who turn around and treat Ghana like the garbage can, Americas a big motherfucking garbage man, if you ain’t know you park parcel of the proveland. You say no you ain’t & I say yes you is. Soon as you find out what plan obselescense is.

You say no they didn’t & I say yes they did. The definition of unecessariness. Manifested saying we should protest just to get arrested, that goes against all my hustling ethics, a bunch of jail niggas think it’s highly ineffective. Depart from Martin connect on Malcom X tip, insert ball when the similar to separate, to me. The truth is more fulfilling then a meth hit, or finding really fast internet to have some sex with. It’s all one song short of a set list, couple croissants shy of a continental breakfast

They’re blowing out your birthday candles just to make a death wish, so absurd word to chiefbone necklace. Down at the lacoktasu casino a whole culture bored down to giving you pekino. I go as left as a hard in the chest, cause the horn of Africa is now starving to death

    3rd verse

In all white Los Angelas the dream of Mr. Chandler hope & pray they take Columbus day up off the calendar, south central an example of God’s gift so shout to all them others raising babies in spa 6. The projects of Oakland city Detroit ghost towns, monopolies on poverty where D boy coke bound. Theres parts of manila like the video from thrilla but the US embasy is reminiscent of a Villa.

If poverty is chocolate & privel is vanilla then whats the flavor of the Sunday preachers pedophilla. Cash rules everything around these, as classrooms everywhere around me wither. Hither you can be Mr. Burns or Mr. Smithers the tyrant or the slave but nowhere in the middler. Of the extremes of Americas dream Floyd fighting Ne-yo, Freddie kruger refereeing.

  13. It’s funny because T.R.O.Y. itself was originally sampled from Tom Scott’s saxophone cover of Jefferson Airplane’s “Today”. Hypocrisy. Pete Rock, take a seat (or two).

  14. I can honestly say, I wasn't not expecting anything this good after hearing Lasers.
I was never hating Lupe, I was just disappointed with how Lasers turned out.

FOTP was pretty dope, never understood the hate for that either.

Back to the song though, amazing.
It's like revamp of Hurt Me Soul for the current affairs (not that much has changed since).
That beat is just so smooth too, I was expecting some catchy hook considering it's a single. Nice to see it stay relevant to the verses.

I'm just happy to heard Lupe back on form.

  18. THIS SHIT IS TRASH. YA LUPE STANS NEED TO HOPE OFF HIS DICK.

  19. Really? He thinks the Ba'ath were good in Baghdad? I mean do you see what's going on in Syria? Nationalistic groups like that are ruining true Arab unity.

I'm not Arab btw, I just couldn't get over that line w/o commenting.

  20. Long live King Lupe the great. DOPE BOY!!!
    Coachella....!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was one who didn't care for Lasers and thought FOTP was meh, but add me to the list of people who love the song. Taking this as a sign of great things to come for F&L2.

  22. Been raping the repeat button since it dropped!!! I feel like all the Lupe Fans that joined during the Lasers Era have been properly introduced to Classic Lu!! Welcome to all!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's been on repeat for 3 hours now, lol. Absolutely amazing song, I love how he said so many things in so little lines. Great references and messages through out, and the song is definitely very well rounded. The chorus is excellent as well, and I don't even need to comment on the beat. Pete Rock should be flattered that his beat got flipped and killed by this man.

    ReplyDelete
  24. To those who don't know , Lupe did a rap over this beat or a similar one a long time ago. but lyrically , this is killer.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yh this is te lupe I know, gotta pull out a dictionary and google to understand. LUPE BACK

    ReplyDelete
  26. This song gave me a reason to live. I was ready to off myself after the Lakers lost haha

Lupe! Congrads. I can't wait till the album!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Pete rock is dumb.

I wasn't listening to the song yet...I read the lyrics on a website first.. Lupe killed it. I love this song for lupe's lyrics not the beat, so... What the hell, stop praising yourselves,Pete..it's embarrassing!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. been listening to this track for the past 3 hours non stop.
    LUPE to the rescue

  29. That's why he's the best. Haters have nothing to say HA! HA!

    ReplyDelete
  30. ^Just because you don't like a song or songs don't mean you're hater. You can't have an opinion? But this is dope though.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ^Don't be stupid

When Lupe does something unusual, people don't like it. And they come here and spew STRAIGHT hatred.

Its flabbergasting. Check out his fb...

Having an opinion IS different from just ""hating"" something. Haters don't have opinions though, they're just stupid :/

    ReplyDelete
  32. While I don't agree with Lupe using this beat without Pete Rock's permission. Lyrically, he kills it

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yo chill out, you acting like Lupe is your family member or something. You don't have to call me stupid lol. Just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they're hating.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's funny... People like this song more so for the lyrics than the beat. Pete should just be glad that Lupe went on this instead of one of the Young Money trash or Rick Ross and his trash label-mates.

    A reminisce, a reminisce...

    ReplyDelete
  35. To all those calling others haters because they didn't like Lasers, you seriously need to stop. Lasers sucked ass. People didn't like it because it had poppy beats, dumbed down lyrics, and weak flows compared to previous records. Not because it was "unusual." It really just wasn't a good album. Thinking so does not make one a hater. BTW I do like this song

    ReplyDelete
  36. sure does what about abe? 2 ways? Wins? Never forget you? Letting go? Im beaming shineing down? Shut up

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh yeah wins and never forget you were lyrical gems...and shining down and I'm beaming were bonus tracks... and the other 3 were alright but clearly not at Lupe's previous efforts...soooooo Lasers still wasn't that good

    ReplyDelete
  38. I liked lasers but still not as much as the cool and food and liquor.. I love this song though!! Can't wait for food and liquor 2!!
