  1. mad disappointed. what was that? suddenly lupe doesn't have a solid opinion on anything?

Lupe!!! stop looking at individuals and look at the bigger picture! America is a country built on racism, surely u can form an opinion on Trayvon's murder based on that.
and Israel only survives with America's approval. surely u can say something about imperialism?
this individualist way of thinking - the world is based on perceptions - is ignoring the reality of class oppression. remember it's the 99 vs the 1%.

  2. Yeah, Lu can be flip-floppy at times, smh. He made sure to state his opinion on Obama and Occupy Wallstreet but can't say anything about the Trayvon case? IDK, kids...he know what it is. He probably was encouraged not to say something because of the backlash of the 'Obama is a terrorist' comment and the 'all-talk but no action' Occupy Wallstreet. I love Lu but he is inconsistent...I don't believe for a second that F&L2 is going to drop in the summer....at least not under Atlantic Records. Therefore, I am not going to get myself excited about it. It wouldbe nice to be proved wrong though.

  3. It seems like parts of the interview were cut out.

  4. Yea we need people like him TO offer their opinion because he has a higher level of awareness than most. I agree with him when he says too many people are offerin their opinion as fact. But I don't think we grow by playing the fence. You can respect both sides yet still completely disagree with one side.

  5. You guys are missing the point..the last question and response sums it all up.

" The world is based on perception, if we have no perception, the world would be a better place". - lupe

We dont have all the evidence. So, this trayvon Martin case is all based on perception, the way you look at things; you judge things based on your cultural background, experience, ethinicity etc...

Different people from different bg see it in a different way, it turns out that people say mean things to each other just to get their point across. Just to get ppl to agree with them, creating unhealthy conflict and baseless deragoratory comments abt each other. If we don't have perception, maybe we could live with each other peacefully and not argue all the time.

It's good to have an opinion, but sometimes ppl got carried away with their emotions and say things that are insensitive and no one gains anything. Just like lupe said "we're stuck in the same place".

Only If people could have a healthy debate and respect other people's opinion while being polite at the same time if they disagreed.

  6. ^I value your opinion but...Lupe didn't say all that perception shit when he called Obama a terrorist and became a strong supporter for Occupy Wallstreet. This is what I mean by being inconsistent. Whatever happen to the L.A.S.E.R.S. manifesto? The album may have been meh....but the message was dope! You can take 'race' out of the Trayvon tragedy and it is still bullshit. Fact is a young unarmed male was killed and the killer was not arrested. The cops acted as if they were the courts by not leaving it up to the courts to decided wether the killing was 'self-defense' or not. Those are basic facts! The system and the situation is fucked-up...that perception argument is BS when it comes to this case.

  7. it's not about opinions yall its about facts, and if we dont have facts then the only real thing to do is make an opinion on how to reach the facts, please dont sound like the terrid interviewer lol

  8. ....then again...maybe the interviewer was playing the bad guy so people could understand what lupe was coming from cause a lot of people aren't as intellectually collective as others

  9. It's obvious...

That the people that are clamoring for Lupe's opinion are on Martin's "side" lol.

When this case initially hit the public I was like there is no way you can justify shooting an unarmed little kid...

BUT it turns out that Trayvon was a 6 foot 3" 17 year old who has connections to drugs lol...

Zimmerman the killer is 5 foot 9"...

The media jumped to conclusions and released info with out all of the facts...

The only thing I see wrong about this entire ordeal besides the idiotic media is that zimmerman wasn't arrested. Other than that as more info comes out it looks more and more like Zimmerman acted in self defense...

    ReplyDelete
  10. ^Ok, the last paragraph you said I what I said previous. Zimmerman was not arrested is the issue. I find it interestig that you point out the height but left out the weight...Zimmerman was 100lbs more than Trayvon. Also, Zimmerman is an aspiring cop. Trayvon's body didn't have any cuts, bruises, nor was his knuckles swollen....But there is no need for me to go in-depth with these FACTS. Because its clear that people aren't into that and more into reciting rap lyrics and find injustices as entertainment. Some of yah have the luxary to only experience the trials and tribulations through rap songs than in life. Count your blessings and be grateful that you can NEVER relate to a Michael Young History or a Trayvon...because for some of us and the communities we live in...we can't just turn the tv and ipod off to...its outside our door. But whatever, its obvious most people don't give a fuck.

  11. Alright Alright... When Lupe made solid, straightforward comments about things like "Obama is a terrorist" he was either heavily criticized for it or told to get out of politics and back into music. And now that he's being cautious and not picking sides when discussing politics but instead opening up about himself musically, he's being criticized for that. It's US THE FANS that need to make up our minds.
Also, when did anyone say F&LII is being released this summer? I'd like to know if Lupe told the interviewer that and if not where he is getting his info from.

  12. We're already blind....that's the problem...

    ReplyDelete
  13. ^Very true. We already blind! You dont need eyesight to judge someone. I mean Ray Charles was judging chicks based on their arms, lol(<<OD).

BTW @Jaimee-Ian, in the beginning of the interview....the interviewer said that the album will drop this summer. It did not come out of Lu's mouth but I am curious why the interviewer said that. But on a lighter note, dude did mistake Pharrell from Will Ferrell which is kinda funny/awesome.

As for Lu saying nothing v. something...I said in my first post that Lu probably didnt say anything based on his past remarks. I understand the game...I just hate it!

  14. @Ryan I get that what he is saying but If you have no perception why do anything at all. I think what he's saying is too many people are jumping to conclusions. That's a different than not having perception. Perception is what helps you understand the world. Take that away and whats left?

And like you (and I said) what we need is respectful conversation or healthy debate

  15. @ Cool Ranch, Anonymous- Lupe mentioned at his show in Portland that F&LII could possibly be released in July...the video was on here somewhere

  16. @ TJ
I acknowledged what you said, bro. Thanks for the insight. :)

  17. People like cool ranch is why Lupe and some other thinking people would like for fact to be what we base our opinion on.

The news media hasn't been completely honest about this situation. George Zimmerman had been taken into custody by police and questioned in a police station. But the perception the media has implanted in pseudo intellectual righteously indignant half ass outraged people who casual jump on to movements wouldn't know that. WHY? because your blind! Or selectively seeing because of your perception which has been develop by your environment.

I'm not one to make Lupe out to be some evil genius societal engineer but he has a subjective point. Take away your preconceived notions and don't jump to conclusion based on someone's agenda driven opinion that they are giving as fact.

  18. "Lupe and some other thinking people"? Really? So because I have a stance on Trayvon case I am not a "thoughtful person"? Was Lupe 'not a thinking person' when he made his stance on Obama, Palestine, and Occupy Wall-street? Trust me. You don't have to give me a 'lecture' on how corrupt the media is whether its for the leftist or the right-wing folks. But if you feel the Trayvon case was handled properly...than I honestly feel for you. Ignorance is not bliss. That sort of 'thinking' is the same 'thinking' that continues to allow injustices like this to occur to a 'select' population of people. (I'll let you decode that since you 'know me' so well).Btw, Lupe I am sure has his stance on the Trayvon case but chooses not to express this publicly for whatever reason. That is his choice and he has that right. As a fan of Lupe the artist who came out elegantly speaking about the 'Michael-Cool-Young-Histories' of the world, I just knew that Lu was going to say something!....but that turned to a major fail clearly. Other than, Palestine, Lu is more 'neutral' now-a-days when it comes to'causes'(imo). It is what it is. While I a more of a 'The Cool' Lu fan, I still appreciate this Lu and if he continues with the message of positivity than I will still have love for the Lu in the future.

  19. "From the cradle to the cage,
We bring our sons to be be gunned down.
Our daughters to have more - it's war."(*sigh* revisiting old Lu music)

  20. Lupe is waiting for all the facts to be revealed before he takes a stance, DUH.

What happens if Zimmerman actually acted in self defense? All these people protesting about racism would look like complete and other fools right now. How many celebrities and athletes would feel ashamed for quickly taking a stance based off what the idiotic media revealed?
