  6. Lupe seemed really defensivewhen he was talking. I don't see why he didn't mention that he makes positive music purposefully.

honestly those comments made me mad. its like someone listening to "Daydreamin" halfway thru the song for the first time, and thinking the song is about "making cocaine cool". if you dont know the whole story dont comment on it at all!

o and here's a vid of gaddafi bombing his own people WAY BEFORE the NFZ was even talked about by the USA

  9. I agree with anon, Lupe made me MAD when he said that about the "rebels".

what also made me made was when lupe talked about the soldiers being murderers? really lupe? all us soldiers are murderers? sorry but you deserve a big fuck you on that one. there are ppl in the military that have not killed a single person. lupe, the things you have read and seen are making you generalize everything, its time to wake up and smell the coffee brother you are wrong on a lot of things.

  11. lupe is getting like lennon with all these off the wall ass comments! it seems like hes doing it just so more people hear the full conversation. like a red herring.

  12. Hey lupe... SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! ur so DUMB!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree with Lu on the whole soldiers are murderers thing. Yes, not all soldiers have actually killed someone but the point is that they would if the govt asked them too.
Everything isnt so cut and dry like he's saying though. Soldiers are necessary.

  16. i think it make no sense to be in an uproar about someone opinions no matter if they are a celeb or not. I agree with him about the soilders to a degree. with that said not everyone has shot a person that is in the military. I come from a military family. I will say that the way the entire United States is ran is on some shady shit. so get your panties out of a bunch and take the comments subjectively and not so close to heart. When you get emotional over a topic you lose rational and logical thinking

  17. Funny thing is everyones taking lupe out of contexts because what he is speaking on is before his time people arwmt ready for that....just cuz you didnt actually pull the FUCKING trigger don't mean you don't contribute to murdering, the air force engineer helps build planes so it can go bomb taliban and innocent bystanders, open your eyes everyone,it is needed to listen to lupe

  18. Okay, if you dont know...or if you refuse to accept that the only reason the West is looking to 'help' out the Libyans..to get rid of Gaddafi is because of the oil and economic reasons. What will happen next is whoever is 'elected' or chosen to be in power after Gaddafi will be backed by the US and these other states that want to continue to bomb citizens in Libya that are supporting Libya because they refuse to let the West steal their oil like Britain and France.

  19. Also, soldiers can be viewed as murderers...because just look..they be in Iraq....they just barged in there to kill the citizens and take over accusing Iraq of having 'weapons of mass destruction' which it didnt even have. They attack regular people by labeling them as terrorists.

  20. "to my n***** in the war may the force be with you." - lupe

    dude contradicts himself so much.

@ hoops, soldiers don't label people terrorists, politicians do. rich declare war, poor fight it. i think you need to do some research.

you fools, what do you think our country would be like without a military? a utopia? i bet...

  21. @above anonymous

It's not too strange for someone to rethink their beliefs or find a new theory within themselves especially considering to time span between when Lupe made "Jedi Mind Tricks" and now. Also, the way Lupe was speaking didn't necessarily mean that those were his honest opinions, it was more to prove his previous point about what is truly the difference between "right and wrong". He has said before that he respects soldiers but not those who send them to war. During this discussion he probably wanted to give an actual answer rather than giving hypothetical theories like he's done in the past.

Hence, the soldiers obeying orders to murder these people...whether they are terrorists or not.. which equals them to be muderers.

  23. @ hoops sorry i am catholic this is what i believe. i respect lupe for being a devout muslim but i do not agree with his views.

@nyris sorry i was just trying to quote lupe's song. also a few weeks ago ON THIS VERY BLOG there was a video in which lupe referenced how his music was so motivational it made a kid decide to join the navy... so it made a kid decide to be a murderer... so is he any different than ricky ross?

    haha.

  24. I am a teacher. What is 70 years old? I am confused. I went to a top university in America. There, I learned very modern and research based instructional methods. I'm not really sure what the factual basis behind these statements is. We do have a garden at my school. It is fantastic and teaches the kids sustainability. But the teacher bashing now has spread to rappers? This sounds ridiculous. Honestly, I lost respect for Rice University for honoring this discussion.

And honestly I don't want any sarcastic responses because I gave 2 years of my life to an inner city school in a city much worse off than "west side chicago." How many years of their lives did these rappers give? Oh wait, but Bun B volunteers on the weekends. Dude sucks at rapping too.

And Lupe, throwing Wayne under the bus but not standing up to Bun B defending what he raps about? But you're going at a teacher for not growing a plant? What were you scared to speak up for yourself?

I respect Lil Wayne more than Bun B. Here's why. In the Katie Couric interview, Wayne never said he was a role model while Bun B is trying to defend himself by saying he also does things to help kids. He should just man up to it and say I'm not a role model.

  25. @anonymous above, where is this school located that has a garden? Suburbs or inner city and is it a private school or a public school? Because where I come from there is certainly a huge disparity between the two. I graduated with honors from a high school where more time was wasted preparing us for standardized tests that passing would determine whether or not we got a diploma then doing anything that would actually benefit me in my life. I also live in the state that was 49th in the nation for per pupil spending for K-12 education for 2005-06. I'm not saying that Lupe is right in placing blame on the teachers, but I don't see how someone who is an educator can't see that our education system is flawed. It is in need of serious reform. And no, you don't have to watch "Waiting For Superman" to see that, you just have to open your eyes.

Case in point: My high school didn't even offer home-ec. Nothing about taking care of finances, no cooking or sewing (unless it was for fashion design where they made boxers). We don't even teach proper sex education in this country, which IMHO is a damn shame because abstinence only education does not work. So you can attack Lupe's points all you want because they offended you, but that doesn't mean that all he said wasn't true. Because clearly, where he comes from and where I come from we aren't "privileged" enough to have what your school offers and the vast majority of schools in this nation aren't either.

  26. I completely agree with Lupe. Poor children are never going to use calculus, never going to need 16 th century European History, never going to need to understand the literary devices used by English poets 400'years ago.
Much less, they are never going to learn it copying notes out of a textbook. Most children hate school. They associate learning with textbooks and lectures. Schools should fill children with the desire and passion for relevant, insightful knowledge that will lead them to lasting careers that they enjoy and contributes to society.

As a teacher, I can confirm that 80% of the time, school does none of this, it just hunts for grades and ceriificates to satisfy a distant, impersonal Government.
