  1. "Back in 1989 righteous was selling. Now nonsense is selling."

This nigga speaks the truth. Lupe needs to finish his contract with Atlantic and then go indie...

  2. He hit nail on the head at the end when he closes with the fact that there are progressive artists out there, yet we as fans don't show them support.

  4. You know, 360 deals aren't exactly evil... When you sign a record deal its not for you to make money for yourself, its basically them investing their money into your career so that they can then make all their money plus more back... 360 deals are truthfully only bad if the label doesn't exactly push you, but if you are under a 360 deal (which pretty much almost everyone is under today) then the more the label pushes you, the more money they will make. In other words, a 360 deal is a great incentive for a label to not slack off, because if they do, then they won't make money.

As stated before, 360 deals were created due to album sales taking a huge dive, and in my opinion if a label sets you up with endorsements, a tour, and merchandise, then they very well deserve their cut.

On the other hand, one disadvantage with a 360 deal is once you reach super stardom, in which case the label basically doesn't need to push you much... You will be big enough to the point where you can get your own endorsements, your own tours, etc, but the label still receives a cut from your money, and in my opinion (and I'm sure everyone elses), that's wrong because then they are making money doing nothing while the artist/the artist's team is doing all the work.

In other words, a 360 deal is great for new artists (and even artists who have weaker sales), but once you hit Kanye level, then you're pretty much screwed making the label money while they just chill.

  6. wow! I never realized how much money you could make selling your own records. The internet is definitely responsible for making that possible.

  8. Mixtapes of B.o.b are great but his actual official album is wack. From watching this interview he prob have to make another 7 wack official albums to get out. I'm sure he's regretting it already

  9. Lu said he doesn't get a cent for any of his tracks n only gets paid for his tours n his clothing line. So his contracts fucked up a;ready, then atlantic wanted him to sign a 360 deal. Those greedy masons

  10. yea this is old, but so true and you see he mentioned 2 of the best artists to ever do it, lupe and Nas, and that they're both in label conflicts. I hate how labels, who we the fans and the whole world dont even car about, have so much control.
