Lupe stopped by a Mount Vernon marketing office Wednesday afternoon and spoke with a small group of journalists and bloggers about Lasers, resolving his label drama and how he's helping his community.

“Musically, I’m more comfortable bending genres. … The album feels more popular, if that makes sense. The message is a little more wider. More people will be able to get it and it’s more clear. I became more simple. Still complex, but I became adept at communicating better. … There’s a lot of rock influence on the record. A lot of trip-hop, downbeat stuff. Some of it doesn’t even sound like a hip-hop record.”
