  5. Are you guys serious? Yah talking about bacon in a Lupe song. Did any of u watch this film? Btw, this film was simply amazing! One of the best documentaries aimed at young Black males that I have ever seen. THe grapics in the film are insane. The knowledge and inspiration is worth analyzing. This needs to spread. I encourage all to post this on your facebooks, twitter, whatever. This type of film needs to shown in schools. If BET really were about Black people, they would play this on their network every week like they do "the color purple"lol. Seriously, though....Mario did a wonderful job with this one. And shoot out to the beautiful Black men for taking time out of their schedule to be apart of this project. I am so happy that Lupe was apart of the project. His message of "The Cool" is loosely based on what this documentary spaks of. I just wish more dudes pick up and really listen to that "food and liquor" and "the cool". Its equivalent to Alex Haley's "The Autobiography of Malcolm X".

  10. Ok, I did not compare Lupe to Alex Haley personally. I compared their work. Haley's book to Lu's "the cool" and "food and liquor." What Haley did was tell the story of how Malcolm became the man who he learned to love...from the broken home to the hustler/pimp to a civil rights icon. Lupe does this with Michael Young, broken home to hustler, however Young dies in vain. Lupe got the idea of "the cool" from Cornel West. Therefore, I dont see whats the big deal with comparing him to a scholar. Haley and West are of course a league in their own. But it doesnt mean their work is so prestige that its incomparable. All things that are great are borrowed...sampling or whatever
